First Swim for Summer!!

Today some keen Lower Middle children braved the chilly temperatures and went for their first swim!! Here are some photos of the tough Room 12 kids that went for a dip!!

Dance Performance

Yesterday we had a group of students from NASDA come and perform an amazing show about keeping our Earth pollution free. We learnt that they wrote the play themselves and changed popular songs to help tell their message. The students were very talented!!

LMS Athletics Day

Today we had the LMS Athletics Day. Everyone had practiced really hard and were looking forward to showing their skills to Mums, Dads and Grandparents. Room 12 began with High Jump. Many surprised themselves when they managed to jump over Level 3!! Next we moved to Hurdles. There were a lot of very close races! We then moved to Shot Put/ Vortex. Unfortunately we only got 2 or 3 throws before a massive hail storm came!! We sheltered under a tree before braving the elements and rushing back to class. 

We hope to complete our athletics tomorrow morning if the weather is OK!!

Week 2

On Thursday we had a Sports Mufti Day to raise money for the Belfast School Jump Jam teams. In Room 12 we had a tennis player, basketball and netball player, gymnast, a rugby player, a wrestler and a cricket player.

We began our inquiry this week. We learnt that Cavemen wore animal fur as their clothing. The Romans wore toga. We thought that the togas looked like white sheets. We learnt that the cotton togas helped to keep the Romans cool in warm weather. In winter the wealthy Romans would wear a coat.

This week the 9 year old's have been practicing their Athletics. They have their competition next Wednesday.

Calendar art has been completed. You will be able to view and purchase your child's art at the office next week.

LMS Dress Up Day Parade

This morning we had a parade of all the clothes from back in the day. Everyone put so much effort into their outfits!! Here are some photos.

Invention Convention

This afternoon we had our LMS Invention Convention!! Everyone had wonderful inventions on display!! Gosh the LMS are clever kids!!

Tennis Lessons

Today we had Mike from Bishopdale Tennis Club come and teach us some new skills. We had to see how many times we could bounce the ball on top of our racquet. Some of us need a but more practice to beat the top score of 67!

Poetry Competition

On Thursday we had the Lower Middle Syndicate Poetry Competition.  Ashliegh C, Cameron, Lara and Finlay represented Room 12. Everybody spoke very well and the judges had a very hard time selecting the top 4!! Well done to Cameron who came 2nd with his Summer Vacation poem!

Number day

On Wednesday the 27th of August 2014 it was maths dress up day.

Jacob dressed up as a dice.It was green on the back and front and the sides were black and had white spots.

Jack is a calculator for maths dress up day.

Cameron decided to be SUMDOG!

Super Structures!

Today we had Anna from Science Alive come and talk to us about structures. We learnt that buildings are made for a purpose. They need to have stable foundations so that they don't fall over (like the Leaning Tower of Pisa!) It is also important to have bracing in structures to make them super stong and safe.
