Chinese New Year

Today we learnt about Chinese New Year. The Chinese New Year is symbolic of letting go of the past and welcoming new beginnings. It's a popular time for spring cleaning. Traditional foods include fish, which is served at the end of the New Year’s meal and symbolizes abundance. Red decorations are everywhere, because the colour red is considered to be one of the luckiest colours of all. Come into Room 8 to see the lanterns and dragons we made.

Beach Ed

On Tuesday Room 8 and 13 went to Beach Education at North Beach. We were greeted by our Lifeguards Sam, Naomi and Harry. First they taught us to Slip, Slop, Slap and Wrap when we are in the sun. We then learnt 5 rules to keep ourselves safe at the beach with our families. We had lots of fun acting these out. After morning tea Ashleigh was dressed up like a lifeguard and we learnt how to spot a rip in the water. Then we got to have some races on the beach. After lunch we finally got into our togs and headed into the water! We learnt to boogie board and body surf. It was a wee bit chilly but a lot of fun!! Thank you to all the parents who came along and helped!!
