Amazing Writers!!!

We are amazing writer's in Room 8.  We are getting ready for the up coming Poetry and Speech Competition.  We have been writing descriptive poems.  Last week we wrote a class poem. We choose the most interesting phrase from our own writing and joined it together to make a new piece of writing as a class.  We hope you enjoy it.....

I think pigs
Are really nice!

A pig, but not any pig.
It has horns on its nose and it has sharp pointy toes.
It is really, really smelly.
Wild boars in the forest rolling in the mud.

Piglets have curly and fuzzy tails and are covered in mud.
Piglets have pink, clean bodies.
Piglets have small brown eyes and a little crinkly nose.
Its nose feels like sandpaper.
Piglets roll in mud, because mud is like sun screen.
It was so muddy that you couldn’t even see the pink piglet.
A piglet squealed so loud that all the other pigs heard him.
A sow is a mum and boar is a dad.
I think they are cute. Don’t you?

Let us know what you think... We'd love your comments

Book Week

Book Week was an exciting week for everyone in Room 8! The biggest highlight for all of us had to be creating our amazing window display.  Thanks to Angela Barriball and the other parents for helping us create an amazing ocean display both in our window and inside our classroom.  We our so proud of our display and we WON the school competition!!!!

Book Character Day was a highlight too.  It was a great chance to dress up and have some fun.  Mrs Ryan turned heads as Commotion Under the Ocean!!!

We also made picture books and had a book launch.  One amazing group of Room 8 team members made a recipe book filled with delicious ocean inspired recipes.  Trent was our class Masterchef and made Savoury Egg Boats.  Look how scrumptious they look!!!!

Greetings from Mrs Kearns and Mrs Ryan

We have had a great couple of weeks in Room 8. We have been raving about how awesome everyone in Room 8 is and the fabulous learning that has been going on. It was amazing being together on our first day. We spent the day investigating the importance of our school motto "Care, Share, Learn and Grow." We worked cooperatively and made a fantastic wall display. Remember everyone can bring photos from home and other examples of how we show our school motto.  Try bringing something in and adding it to the wall.
We have also brought special things from home to share with the class that we care about and that make us special and unique- things that others might not know about us.  Check out Keela with her porcupine quill that came from India.
